If you live in Bartlesville, OK you are no stranger to tornadoes. Records show that between 1973 and 2023, a total of 27 tornadoes have threatened Washington County, including two rated highly damaging EF-3 strength. 

In April 2003, local residents witnessed the destructive power of a tornado that struck Washington County. This powerful storm wreaked havoc as it swept through the area, causing extensive damage to 41 homes, 2 businesses, and 40 barns and sheds. Among the affected properties were 16 severely damaged homes, including two mobile homes that were completely destroyed. The tornado’s path of destruction spanned a half-mile width at its peak, leaving behind a trail of wreckage. Tragically, three individuals required medical attention at Bartlesville’s emergency room due to injuries sustained during the tornado, with two of them being residents of one of the demolished mobile homes.
