Q: Where can I buy a Do It Yourself Bolt Together Safe Room, Tornado Shelter or above ground Storm Shelter kit that also has a professional installation option?
A: If you live within 100 miles of any of the following locations you can have your own Tornado Alley Armor DIY Safe Room kit with all necessary hardware delivered to your door within 4-5 weeks, palletized on a 40” x 80” wooden skid, with professional installation available upon request. A good rule of thumb to estimate freight & delivery cost is between $0.50 and $1.05 per mile depending on the weight of your selected model and whether it is a DIY or professional installation. We have access to some of the best freight rates in the country, so don’t think the shipping will be too much. Give us a call and we’ll quote it for you!
As of April 2020 we have safe rooms in states designated with red font and an asterisk. We ship and deliver nationwide, so if you don’t see your state or area listed, or if you are in a state that isn’t red, give us a call! We’d be glad to add your region, and we may even be persuaded to make you a deal!

I live in Mississippi, and I have a carpenter remodeling my house. Our plans included building a safe room, and then I saw this online. I am interested in having one of these in southern Mississippi (about 70 miles from both Jackson and Hattiesburg, which are listed here on your site). Can you make a GREAT deal for a retired teacher lol?!
Hi, I am thinking of having one installed in my 2.5 car garage. (3 people tornado shelter) The house is 13 years old. Do you think the garage conceret slab is thick enough? I am actually in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. I do not see WI on your list. Can you install it too? Pls. Give me a quote.
Thanks!
AD
Thanks for your question! Your slab should be just fine. As a matter of fact, we’ve never come across a garage floor slab less than 30 years old that isn’t adequate. A garage floor slab is pretty standard at 4″ or more in depth, and virtually all of them of newer construction have adequate mass and some sort of steel reinforcement embedded within them….another FEMA320 recommendation. The most common reinforcement is rebar or 6×6 wire mesh, but many newer homes are now being built with post-tension cables. We scan the slab electronically to determine which type is in use, and in the case of post-tension cables we mark the locations and position the safe room so that the anchors do not contact the cables. And yes, we DEFINITELY serve Wisconsin with sales and installation. We’ll send you a quote!
I would like some info on the price of a storm shelter. Really only need room for two adults and a 6ft 14 yr. old and three very small dogs. Would like to behave to have one soon. I live in Champaign,IL. Thank you Mrs. Rich
Hi Mrs. Rich,
It sounds like our Champion safe room would be just right. It’s rated for 3 adults, but is almost a 4 adult size according to FEMA calculations. You might click this link http://www.tornadoalleyarmor.com/pricing and click on the Champion to look it over. You can build a quote right online from that link, and even get a total price. We have several options for installation so that part of the price really depends on if you want to DIY, have it installed by us in your garage; or in a closet or some other room inside your home. Just go through and click whichever options apply to you to get that total price. Give us a call toll free at 918-518-1551 if you have any questions and we’d be happy to help. We look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you,
Leslie
