The Shoham family in Ft Meyers, Florida were very lucky when they had a tornado blow through their neighborhood. They locked themselves in their Tornado Alley Armor safe room and were protected while riding out the storm. Some of their neighbors weren’t so lucky. They described their experience below: “We had only a few minutes to seek shelter from an F2 tornado coming upon us, but my wife and I were as calm as one could be in our tornado shelter. With wind blowing, debris flying, and items crashing, it really did sound like a freight train! We held each other and then it passed. Didn’t know what to expect when we opened the door, we thought our place might have been flattened. The houses behind us, to the right and left were destroyed. We have damage but nothing close to our neighbors’ and we were perfectly safe.
In less than 5 minutes our world changed. Emergency rescue, fire, sheriff’s Department were there within minutes. Most of the first responders wanted to take pictures of our storm shelter. About 45 minutes later there was another warning. The first responders were encouraging people to gather in the community clubhouse. Except for us. They acknowledged we were safer where we were, at home, in our shelter. Some of our neighbors who thought I was “one bubble off center” for installing a shelter have now circled back and said, ” Maybe you weren’t that crazy after all! You guys were terrific, from the sales, manufacturing, delivery, and installation! You folks did everything you said you would do and in the time you said you would do it! Thank you! A most satisfied customer and willing ambassador for Tornado Alley Armor!”
