The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management announced the online application for the SoonerSafe Safe Room Rebate Program in August of 2011. At that time many households submitted an application for this program.  This program is to assist homeowners in the state of Oklahoma wishing to install a storm shelter and receive assistance from FEMA.  The rebate is 75% of the total eligible cost, no more than a maximum of $2000,00.

There’s no need to reapply each year. Once you have applied you are automatically entered in the drawing each year. If you apply for the rebate and then purchase a safe room you may still be eligible for the rebate if you are contacted. You will need to contact the program manager to discuss.

You must purchase your safe room from a member of the National Storm Shelter Association to guarantee you will get the rebate awarded to you. This is the only way to know that your safe room truly meets or exceeds guidelines stated in the most recent versions of FEMA Publications 320 (Taking Shelter from the Storm) and FEMA 361 (Design and Construction Criteria for Community Safe Rooms), as well as ICC 500 (Standards for the Design and Construction of Storm Shelters).  Tornado Alley Armor Safe Rooms is proud to be a Producer Member in the National Storm Shelter Association. (NSSA)

Don’t worry about the paperwork. If you are awarded the rebate we can help you with getting everything filled out and make sure you turn in everything needed to get your safe room rebate.
