Do you have a small area at the front of your garage similar to this one? Sometimes these “parking curbs” run the entire width of the garage. Sometimes they are on the side of the garage. Most of the time our 3 person Champion safe room and our 5 person Defender safe room will fit on them. But, every once in a while a customer has one that isn’t quite deep enough. That’s where the curb extension you see in these pictures comes in handy.
We pour a concrete extension with reinforcement in it. After it has time to cure we come back and install the safe room. On the front wall of the safe room we use longer anchors so that the safe room is still anchored into the original garage floor, using the curb extension simply as a spacer to keep air from being able to get up underneath the safe room.
